Greg Norman Joins Brisbane 2032 Olympics Organising Committee

Just days after hinting at his next career move, Greg Norman has revealed his latest endeavor – a pivotal role in shaping the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The legendary golfer and outgoing CEO of LIV Golf has been appointed as a board member of the organising committee, answering a personal call from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

A Homecoming for The Shark

Norman, who turns 70 on February 10, is no stranger to Brisbane. Growing up in the city, he began his professional career at Royal Queensland Golf Club. Now, decades later, he returns not as a competitor but as a key figure in the planning of one of Australia’s biggest sporting events.

Joining a 24-person panel that includes Olympic champions Jessica Fox and Natalie Cook, as well as Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates, Norman’s appointment brings a wealth of global sports business expertise. His experience in launching the LIV Golf League in 2021, along with ventures spanning apparel, golf course design, real estate, and private equity, make him a valuable asset to the committee.

A Chance to Give Back

For Norman, this role is about more than business; it’s about giving back to the place where his journey began.

“While I wish I could wind the clock back four decades and compete in 2032 – it is a privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games,” Norman told The Courier-Mail.

Looking Ahead to 2032

With Norman’s influence, the Brisbane Games are set to benefit from his decades of experience in sport and business. As preparations ramp up, his presence on the board signals a strong commitment to delivering a world-class event that will leave a lasting legacy for Australian sport.

As the countdown to Brisbane 2032 continues, one thing is certain: The Shark is back in his hometown, ready to make waves once again.
