When you see an article about golf and cocaine, it will normally has Dustin Johnson's name smeared all over it, due to an extended lay off in 2013 which a lot of people suggest was cocaine related. But this time it has nothing to do with him.
Two drug smugglers were facing jail today after posing as golfers to flood the UK with millions of dollars of cocaine hidden in the shafts of their clubs.
Between 2012 and 2014 Tony Bayne, 52 and Taher Najmzadeh, 53, were recruited to fly overseas with golf bags as part of their luggage. The pair received cash and holidays in return for smuggling drugs.
According to the Evening Standard in the UK, police seized just under 17kg of cocaine which has an estimated worth of more than $4.7 million USD ($5.8 million AUD).
